walking by grand central

W: It's like a Wesleyan for the West Coast

M: Yeah

W: You know, like kinda artsy

M: So is he totally down with the blog?

W: Well, he's getting paid!

last night's conversation (reconstructed)

B: I might meet my Dad, I mean my biological father you know. I never met him you know

Y: Yeah yeah, whoah, how did

B: A few years ago my half-brother contacted me on Classmates.com

Y: So you knew you had a half-brother?

B: Yeah, but it was never something we, I mean my mother and I, talked about, and

Y: How long were they, I mean, were they married? Your Mom and your Dad?

B: Yeah, for about a year,

Y: Wow

B: Yeah, and, apparently, my father's new wife wants nothing to do with me

Y: What?

B: Like she really really doesn't want her son, my half-brother, or my father to meet me, or have anything to do with me

Y: That sucks!

B: But so my half brother contacted me and offered this opportunity for me to meet my father, he was like 'do you want to meet Dad? Because if you do I can arrange it.' And that was a couple years ago. At the time, it freaked me out, and I was like no way, but now, I'm feeling like maybe it's time to you know

Y: Closure

B: Yeah do something one way or another so I can put it away, I mean there's totally all this stuff I have to deal with

Y: Yeah yeah, where does he live?

B: Near L.A.

Y: Wow wow I can't even imagine what that would be like, are you gonna take Bart?

B: No, but my bestest pal Lorraine is out there, and she's

Y: Good, good, that's totally something like you're going to want your friends there to back you

B: Yeah
